We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety and Compliance Officer to join our team in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of effective safety and compliance standards across our operations in Sri Lanka. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential risks, as well as a strong commitment to upholding industry regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and evaluate existing safety protocols.

Compliance Oversight: Monitor and ensure adherence to all relevant local and international safety regulations and industry standards within the oil and gas sector.

Safety Protocol Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement robust safety protocols and procedures, aiming to minimize workplace accidents and ensure a secure working environment.

Training and Education: Organize and conduct regular safety training sessions for staff, focusing on the importance of compliance and best safety practices. Stay updated with the latest industry advancements and safety trends.

Incident Management: Lead investigations into any safety incidents, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop effective corrective and preventive action plans.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety-related data, incidents, and compliance activities. Prepare and submit comprehensive reports to management and regulatory authorities as required.

Safety Culture Promotion: Act as an advocate for safety awareness and cultivate a culture of safety consciousness among all employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

Regular Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of work areas, equipment, and facilities to ensure adherence to safety standards and identify any potential areas of improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is a plus.

Proven experience in a similar role within the oil and gas industry, with a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex situations effectively.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.

Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and developing safety protocols.

Familiarity with relevant software and tools used for safety management and reporting.

Certification in Occupational Health and Safety will be considered an advantage.
